I was following a Japanese Drama quite a while ago, and I thought it probably was time for me to write something about it.
Synopsis
The drama, Zettai Kareshi, or otherwise known in English as 'Absolute Boyfriend', is about a robot called 'Night' that was created by a company, and designed to be the perfect boyfriend. The robot looks like any other human, but is, of course, totally mechanical on the inside.
The drama starts off with the creator of the robot, Namikiri, looking for a test subject to test his new creation. He finds the main character, Izawa Riiko, and offers Night for 5 days, free of charge.
5 days was not enough for Night to win Riiko's heart, however, and with some manipulation, Namikiri manages to let Riiko continue to have Night by her side in order to test Night for a longer period of time. As time passes by, Night turns more 'human', and develops emotions and feelings for Riiko. Riiko also starts to develop feelings for Night.
The Manga version vs the Drama
The drama is supposed to be based on the manga (comic) by Watase Yuu. If you had read it before, let me warn you that the drama is seriously nothing like the manga.

Riiko's supervisor, Asamoto Soushi, also falls in love with Riiko as he gets to know more about her and interacts with her. Riiko also feels the same way about him from the start, but she does not know about Soushi's feelings for her until much later. (I, personally, am an ultra big fan of the Soushi x Riiko pairing)
Of course, there are many obstacles and twists in the story along the way, but I shall not provide spoilers here, especially on the big question of who she finally ends up with. So if you're interested, perhaps you can watch the show ;)

One good thing, I felt, would be the lack of all the sexual scenes- If you're like me, you'll most likely like the drama more because of that. The setting and the relationships between the people (including Soushi and Riiko) is totally different from that in the manga (e.g. Riiko is a schoolgirl in the manga but an OL in the drama, and Soushi is Riiko's childhood friend in the manga as compared to a supervisor in the drama. Soushi's character is also extremely different).
Although the story was so different, however, I felt that they managed to pull it off pretty well =)
A thumbs up for me =)
Signing off... ...
