Drama crazy

I've been watching a LOT of japanese dramas/movies recently... During the span of my one-month holiday, I've watched:

  • Nodame Cantabile (Drama)
  • Nodame Cantabile Special
  • Hana Yori Dango 1 & 2 (Drama)
  • Hana Yori Dango movie
  • Bimbo Danshi (Drama)
  • Hana Kimi Special
  • Ryuusei no Kizuna (Drama)
  • A few episodes of Maou
  • A few episodes of Code Blue

Then, during my first week of school, I've watched:

  • Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai
  • Koizora
  • Cyborg Girl
  • Taiyou no Uta
  • Way of Blue Sky
  • Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru
  • Nobuta wo Produce (Drama)

Come to think of it, it _is_ a little crazy ^^;; I'm currently still watching stuff though... Heh. I totally recommend (in no order):

  • Ryuusei no Kizuna (Nishikido Ryo's acting is awesome)
  • Nobuta wo Produce (Yamapi's acting was awesome)
  • Kimi ni shika kikoenai (Keisuke Koide!)
  • Nodame Cantabile (So many people were such great actors/actresses it's difficult to choose my favourite)
  • Last Friends (if you haven't watched it... I LOVE UENO JURI!!)

Yea. And here ends my rant for today.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

HAPPY(belated) NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!

=) I've given out most of my Christmas cum New Year cards (for those I couldn't give out in time)... Hope those who received it liked it ^^

I went on Shutterfly and personalised 9 cards for 9 of my friends- There were some I didn't manage to make cards for simply because I didn't have any photos... But that doesn't mean you guys aren't special!!

Just Finished Another Japanese Drama!
By the way, I've been watching another (pretty recent) drama... And I found it quite nice =D It's called: Ryuusei no Kizuna The broadcast period in Japan was from 17 October to 19 December 2008.

Based on the popular novel of the same name, Ryusei no Kizuna tells the story of three orphans, whose parents were murdered long ago. Together, the three vowed on a shooting star to one day avenge their parents. After many years, the two brothers have found the murderers, and are set to carry out their plan for vengeance when they realize they've made a serious miscalculation; you see, their sister...

The main actors and actress are Ninomiya Kazunari (from Arashi), Nishikado Ryo and Toda Erika. I've started to like them all now =) They're pretty good, especially Nishikado Ryo. He had to put on different personalities at different parts in the show and it's really awesome =D

If you're a fan of his but haven't watched this drama, please do so!

I sound like I'm shamelessly advertising another drama ^^;;

Japanese Drama: Zettai Kareshi

I was following a Japanese Drama quite a while ago, and I thought it probably was time for me to write something about it.

Synopsis
The drama, Zettai Kareshi, or otherwise known in English as 'Absolute Boyfriend', is about a robot called 'Night' that was created by a company, and designed to be the perfect boyfriend. The robot looks like any other human, but is, of course, totally mechanical on the inside.

The drama starts off with the creator of the robot, Namikiri, looking for a test subject to test his new creation. He finds the main character, Izawa Riiko, and offers Night for 5 days, free of charge.

5 days was not enough for Night to win Riiko's heart, however, and with some manipulation, Namikiri manages to let Riiko continue to have Night by her side in order to test Night for a longer period of time. As time passes by, Night turns more 'human', and develops emotions and feelings for Riiko. Riiko also starts to develop feelings for Night.

Riiko's supervisor, Asamoto Soushi, also falls in love with Riiko as he gets to know more about her and interacts with her. Riiko also feels the same way about him from the start, but she does not know about Soushi's feelings for her until much later. (I, personally, am an ultra big fan of the Soushi x Riiko pairing)

Of course, there are many obstacles and twists in the story along the way, but I shall not provide spoilers here, especially on the big question of who she finally ends up with. So if you're interested, perhaps you can watch the show ;)

The Manga version vs the Drama
The drama is supposed to be based on the manga (comic) by Watase Yuu. If you had read it before, let me warn you that the drama is seriously nothing like the manga.

One good thing, I felt, would be the lack of all the sexual scenes- If you're like me, you'll most likely like the drama more because of that. The setting and the relationships between the people (including Soushi and Riiko) is totally different from that in the manga (e.g. Riiko is a schoolgirl in the manga but an OL in the drama, and Soushi is Riiko's childhood friend in the manga as compared to a supervisor in the drama. Soushi's character is also extremely different).

Although the story was so different, however, I felt that they managed to pull it off pretty well =)

A thumbs up for me =)

Okaeri: English Translation

This post is related to my previous post with the Japanese lyrics and song.

I figured quite a few people would not understand the lyrics... So I decided to post the translation to the song =) Hope you guys like it-

Some notes from me:
I swear I hear "Sweetheart" at some places... But... -_-" Ah well. The part I (bracketed) is the part I'm not sure about... Cause I'm not even sure if the Japanese version that I have/edited is correct =S

*Okaeri = What you say when someone else comes home. Implies that there's someone waiting for you at home.

Okaeri

*Okaeri, sweet home
A place to return to yeah
Thanks for your love

Pretending to be alright again
to paint over the color of sadness
I end up laughing it off

Although I understand
The importance of believing,
There are still times when I start to doubt

When my empty body
Flows by
It makes me want to just lie down, but
I want to hold you, and
(These feelings stab through me so I can move on)

Okaeri, I'm home
That one word fills my heart
Okaeri, Sweet home
A place to return to (yeah)
Thanks for your love
Sweet Home

I believed that adults
Who only think of themselves
Are sly
However, I finally realised that
There are also people
That scream that they want to change

There is no such thing in this world as
Happiness that comes naturally
That is what I thought for your sake,
By carrying these feelings,
I can move on

Okaeri, I'm home
Everyday speeds up
Okaeri, Sweet home
The scenery that is always there and never changes
Sweet home

I search...
It's lost...
What made me stand up and fight
Against that wound in my heart
Was the existence of that "Okaeri".

Okaeri, I'm home
That one word fills my heart
Okaeri, Sweet home
A place to return to (yeah)
Thanks for your love

Okaeri, I'm home
It’s alright
Because you are here
Okaeri, sweet home
Wait for me
I'm reaching soon
Sweet home

(oh yeah)
Okaeri… sweet home

Seigi no Mikata Ending - Honto wa ne

Sorry for the hiatus!!! Been busy recently ^^;;

I just started watching the J-Drama, "Seigi no Mikata", and would like to share the ending song with everyone =) It's really nice ^-^

Honto wa ne - Hatsune Okumura

Zettai Kareshi Ending Song: Okaeri

I have recently been following a new Japanese Drama (the last episode will be airing in Japan tonight): Zettai Kareshi. It is based on the Japanese comic (manga) Zettai Kareshi by Watase Yuu.

I will be covering the manga and drama sometime soon, but for now, I thought I would share the drama ending song with everyone. It's a very soothing and sweet song, sung by Japanese Singer Ayaka.

The lyrics (in romanji and kanji) and song are below. I hope you like it as much as I did =D

If you like this song of hers, I recommend her 'Mikazuki' song as well =)

Okaeri - AYAKA

Kanji

I'm home
sweet home

I'm home
sweet home

I'm home

I'm home
sweet home

oh yeah
